If you are not a part of the Jacksonville healthcare industry, you are probably wondering, what is Jean’s Jax Network and why does it appear here? Well, I guess the best explanation is that it has become an integral part of my Spiritual “service work”.

I have always loved helping others although when I began working with seniors 34 years ago I never imagined where it would take me.   I started doing community outreach for a local ophthalmologist and quickly realized that I had no idea how to connect with these folks and those who served them.  As I grew, I got involved with everyone and everything to do with seniors and as this evolved, more and more people began asking me how they could connect as I had.  So, I created a calendar and called it Jean’s Jax Calendar.  I emailed to anyone who asked for it.   As time  went on and word got out, I soon had nearly 700 people on my email string who wanted to get the calendar each month.  I had created something wonderful but it was taking over my life.  Finally I got this great message from Spirit, put the calendar on your website.  Wow!  Was I glad to get that message!  And there you have it.  The story of how Jean’s Jax Network began.

It is here that I’d like to put in a plug for MEDCO, the company that has employed me for the last 17 years.  Medco has played an integral role in supporting the growth and development of what has become Jean’s Jax Network.  I could not have provided this service to all of you without this great company and my awesome boss, Jim Sloan.

Medco is a full service home medical equipment company.  Please call if you have patients, clients or residents who are in need of equipment.

Stay Healthy and Hydrated This Summer at Brookdale Mandarin @ Brookdale Mandarin
Jul 26 @ 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Join us for an educational seminar on preventing heat-related illnesses.

It’s essential you drink plenty of water during the summer as dehydration is one of the most common hazards of hot, humid weather among seniors. And as a senior you are also more likely to experience increased body temperature than younger adults. Why? Because age, medications, poor circulation and chronic medical conditions decrease your ability to regulate temperature.

Come learn about the risks and what you can do to avoid health complications during the heat.
