A commercial came on TV. I hadn’t been paying attention to it at first but then I recognized someone. It was Brian’s oncologist. It was then that I realized that it was an advertisement for the cancer center where Brian had been treated. There was a shot of his doctor hugging a little girl. My breath caught in my throat. It might have been his child. I heard nothing that was being said as my mind went into a whirl and suddenly I saw Brian and I sitting in an exam room as he shared about a vacation he had been on with his family. Little did I know on that day, that there would be no more vacations for our family. Not one.
